Abstract

Human capital is gaining increasing importance in the labor market due to its close association with enhancing customer experiences and improving the quality of tourism services. The development of human resources and the enhancement of their skills represent some of the most critical challenges facing tourism companies. This study highlights one of the most important tools that can be utilized to strengthen and develop human capital skills, namely metaverse technology. The study aims to examine the relationship between metaverse technology and the development of human capital in tourism companies. The target population consisted of employees working in selected tourism companies in Baghdad, including (Al-Qimma Company, Bilad Al-Safari Company, Madar Al-Nujoom Company, Bawabat Al-Alam Company, Rabeea Al-Ahlam Company, Tareeq Al-Ufuq Company, Al-Mahatta Company, Qimmat Al-Salam Company, and Tayir Al-Thalj Company).
These companies were selected due to their distinguished performance in providing tourism services. The study hypothesizes that metaverse technology has a positive and significant impact on human capital across its dimensions (training and simulation, communication and interaction, innovation and development, and psychological well-being). The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was employed to test the relationships and analyze the data. The preliminary findings indicate that metaverse technology has a positive and statistically significant effect on human capital and its dimensions. The study concludes with several recommendations, most notably the need for relevant authorities to focus on tourism investments in metaverse technology to enhance the practical skills of employees.
