The researcher aimed at finding out the purposes of using the
internet by members of the teaching staff of Mosul Technical Institute
and to what extent they use it. He also aimed at determining the
hindrances of using the internet and determining the differences of
hindrances for their using according to several job and personal factors
of the teachers, the research included all of the teaching staff of the
Institute 341 teachers. A hierarchical sample has been selected randomly
with a ratio 37.5%. . So the sample has amounted 128 teachers of various
technical, administrative, medical and agricultural fields.
Face validity of the questionnaire has been calculated and finding
consisting coefficient amounted by Cronbach's Alpha by way. The
consisting coefficient amounted 0.80. After collecting data, Mean,
Frequencies, Percentages, (t) test and Analysis of Variance have been
used to determine data statistically.
The results of the research made it clear that the most important
purposes of using the internet by the teachers is to gather up-to date
researches besides gathering new information related to each field of
knowledge. It has also been cleared that most teachers use the Internet
from 11 to 20 hours weekly. The results showed that the teachers suffer
from somehow moderate hindrances when they use the Internet most
important of which supplying no Internet service to studying classes and
teachers offices. The results also showed that there are no differences of
statistical indication about the level of hindrances of using the Internet
by teachers from age, gender, teaching experiences, scientific level and
scientific certificate but there is a psychological difference according to
the scientific field.
